Sometimes planning is a waste of time. Labels: run
I had planned to blog about getting these for runners with knee problems (ie MEL!).
I got the Nike knee sleeve with Grace and Rena at Mustafa $18.90.
The Cho-Pat knee strap is from runninglab at $29.90 each. Had initially gone down to ask for Nike's patella band (at $19.90) but they only come in size M and L. Sigh.. Expensive la!
I feel that I definitely don't want to risk my knees deteriorating any time soon since being able to walk is such a great privilege. Totally worth the protection!
And perhaps add in some "words of wisdom" to impart to my readers.
Unfortunately, after my run in the evening, I'm in no mood to do just that.
You see,
I so carefully planned my last run before the 21km on Sunday.
Since I was going on a route I've never done before,
I sketched a map..
And scribbled down landmarks to look out for and where to turn..
(since I got lost once even with a list of landmarks written down :X)
BUT..
Why need what protection when you're talking about a clumsy girl who can even trip and fall anytime anywhere?
p/s: these look much better after cleaning up already.. initially it was just one big bloody dirty mess.
*scroll back up and you can even see the dirt on the landmarks side of the paper where I fell on since it was clutched in my left hand.
Whatever knee guard/knee strap won't save me from falling down and getting scratches and bruises all over right.. Ugh.
I hate falling down!
Or getting mosquito bites, or getting any sort of injury..
Cos my scars take forever to go away.
This sucks.
And for the record, I was hardly even 1 km away from home when I fell.
I went down knees, shoulders, palms and then for the great finale..... my chin!
It must have been quite a hilarious scene as I felt like my fall lasted at least 1 minute.
I don't know if I had screamed or something as I tripped since I had music plugged in but there were probably 10+ construction workers within a 2-metre radius. And I do believe my natural instinct is to scream. Who wouldn't?
I thought of Nattasha and how she would CONFIRM laugh if she had seen me fall.
Then, I walked one big round home cos it's way too embarrassing to turn and go back the same way, passing by all the workers who had watched me fall.
And my knees bled the whole way. To make things worse, my perspiration stung my wounds. Luckily I haven't gone very far from home, if not got more perspiration and I'll just die in pain.
To make things even more hilarious to the observer, the very first thing I did after composing myself and getting back on my feet, was to scramble to the nearest lorry in front and check my face in the side mirror.
I remember thinking "Phew. No blood."
Thank God my wounds are largely superficial and only some bruises here and there.
Plus of course a swollen bruised chin.
Hope I'll recover by Sunday to be able to run properly.

lol, i din noe it wouldn't have my name when i log in... zzzz anyway, wat a BAD fall, imagine if u r like 8km away from ur hse...
ya.. heng i was nearby. if not i don't even know how i would make it home with no money/ez link card.
but it seriously sucks!
my chin is damn painful lor. and i think my knee will take forever to recover cos everytime i walk, the wound tears again and gets wet with pus(?) again. UGH!
!!! Are you okay!! Did you hurt your chin or was that blood?? Poor girl!! Must have hurt like crazy!! Did you do your warm up or not.. aiyo.. must be more careful.. was it on the road??
Is it infection cos of the pus? Have to clean the wound properly!
Btw, wads the diff between thet two knee guards? Does it help?
i fell on my chin so there's a bump and it hurts with the slightest touch. :(
it has nothing to do with warm up! haha. i tripped. on those wooden flimsy planks they use to cover the pavement as construction is going on.
yea.. it's prob infection cos the whole pavement was damn dirty and dusty. my limbs were all brown and grimy after the fall.
and though i did use dettol and everything else i could get my hands on, i bet it's still infected.
the knee guard has more support - holds the whole kneecap and thigh in place. i think it's better but it's damn uncomfortable to run in. so restricted and damn hot.
the patella strap i planned to try the day i fell. will update with proper review k. :)
