Mr Chicken Rice for you? :)

I've been whining for chicken rice for the longest time and finally Hans decided we will try out Mr Chicken Rice at E!Hub.

See our little roughy at the back! heh. :D

My waiter boy.

We ordered two sets of Set B - $5.50 each.

The rice is not too dry and not too salty. We agreed that it goes extremely well with the slightly salty chicken and is great cos it's moist and super fragrant.

Our favourite is this tofu with thai sauce. It tastes absolutely tangy. The tofu is crispy on the outside and soft yet firm on the inside. Yummy! I'm not a fan of the generic thai sauce but this is really delicious. A must-try!

Again, the chicken is not too dry like the ones we get at hawker stalls. The sauce is a little salty on its own but tastes superb when mixed with the rice.

Not forgetting the sauces.
I don't use the black sauce, but I guess it should taste like normal?
The pound ginger rocks! It's one of the best I've tried. One saucer was not enough for me. :D
The chilli sauce was quite good too but it was a little too spicy for me so I didn't finish it.

You won't believe that small-eater Hans went for second bowl of rice! I just had to photo-document it. OMG. First time! And he actually finished it all too. Just goes to show how good and yummy it is..

I personally can't remember how the Chatterbox Chicken Rice tastes like, having only tried it once and it was two years back. But I think Mr Chicken Rice is good and should be good since it is opened by the sous chef from Chatterbox. Hans thinks this is definitely a cheaper alternative and he hopes that Mr Chicken Rice sustains. At that, I hope that Mr Chicken Rice doesn't turn into a franchaise chain - standard bound to drop :(.
When we were there, we heard quite a couple of people discussing on whether to eat at Mr Chicken Rice. Majority went 'huh.. $3.80 or $5.50 for a set of chicken rice? that's so expensive.' and 'drumstick still must add 50cents?!' Come on, even a regular chicken rice set at any food court would cost you more than $3.80. And the $5.50 one has the very yummy tofu! It's totally worth it can.

Do try it people!

Here's me, jazz and maggie signing off. :D
