After reading vivawoman.net's post about mineral makeup being drying, I realized that this could be the problem I've been facing. She mentioned that zinc oxide, iron oxide, titanium dioxide and kaolin (commonly used as mmu ingredients) are drying agents. Well, I do know about kaolin and so avoid it.. but I can't believe the others are drying too.

My skin is usually pretty dry, taut and often flaky. I usually use a mattifying two-way foundation anyway as I don't want to end up too shiny and oily at the end of the day. I hardly find the need to blot though I do bring out a few pieces of blotters, just in case.
After starting on mmu, every single day I go home and startle myself when I look into the mirror. My face looks like someone poured a jar of oil and left it as that. Now when I do remember and blot, I need at least 2-3 pieces of my blotters and all soaked through in the oil. Oh the horror! I used to only use one piece and tease Hans for having to use more. :(
Yesterday, I applied liquid foundation and used my mmu as a finishing powder and still the terribly oily face after about 5 hours. I really suspect it is the mmu since when I use other liquid foundations or my other two-way foundations, the oiliness is not that bad!

I've always been quite happy with my dry skin even though it flakes and all.. but at least I don't end up looking like some frying wok full of oil.
makes mental note to remember to blot.

I love using mmu, my skin is really better and is less clogged. Really hope there is something to solve this oiliness.
I'm still waiting for my edm start to finish powder and natural reflections to see if it helps in the oil control. If they don't, I think I might want to get silica powder from coastalscents to try.

:(
